The SEN Program was created after seeing the same situation happen to many families. A child begins to struggle in school, concerns are raised, and parents suddenly find themselves trying to understand a process that includes evaluations, meetings, and unfamiliar steps. While these steps are important, they can take time. During this period, children may begin to feel discouraged or confused about why school suddenly feels harder.
For many families, this waiting period becomes one of the most stressful parts of the journey. Parents are trying to understand what is happening, coordinate appointments, and prepare for school meetings while continuing their daily responsibilities. What is meant to be a supportive process can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving both families and students feeling stuck while answers are being found.
The SEN Program serves as a bridge between families and the school process during this time. We help parents understand how schools identify and evaluate student needs, what different steps and terms mean, and how to prepare for conversations with teachers and school teams. Our role is not to replace school services, but to help families move through the process with clearer information, better organization, and greater confidence.
We also recognize that a child’s challenges rarely exist in isolation. Academic struggles, emotional stress, family transitions, or outside pressures can all influence how a student functions in school. The SEN Program helps families connect with evaluations, academic supports, and community resources that may address barriers to learning, ensuring children receive the attention and support they need as decisions about services are being made.
What Makes the SEN Program Different
The SEN Program can attend school meetings with families, including 504 meetings and ARD meetings, to provide support during discussions about evaluations, services, and educational plans. Having a knowledgeable partner present helps families follow the conversation, ask meaningful questions, and better understand next steps.
Our support goes beyond a single meeting or evaluation. A child’s school experience is shaped by what happens at home, in the classroom, and in the broader community. By helping families connect these pieces, the SEN Program reduces confusion, strengthens communication with schools, and helps ensure children receive the understanding and support they need as early as possible.
Through early guidance and practical support, families are better prepared to participate in decisions that shape their child’s educational path.
